we’ve moved.

dear friends,

we apologize for the lack of blog posts leading up to the wedding & the past few weeks following it. we’ve been playing mr. and mrs. globe trot for the past three weeks travelling everywhere (honeymoon, seattle, and high school summer camp road trip). we’re finally home for good and settling into our new home.

we’ve recently decided to move our blog from tumblr to blogger. we’ve had a good run with tumblr, but desire something a lot easier to use, like blogger. we thought since marriage commences a new season, it should commence a new blog.

we’ve changed the name to “cheer up, clam” which is a fun phrase we always seem to tell one another when one of us is bummed or just not having a good day. it will also be written and updated mostly (if not completely) by cat.

here is the link to it: cheer up, clam

please continue to follow us on blogger and stay updated with what’s going on in our life. we love to share our life happenings and testimony with others.

austin & dara photo shoot.

A few weeks ago we were blessed to have our wedding photographers, Austin & Dara, do a mini-engagement shoot for us. The day we planned for ended up being rainy and cold…but that didn’t stop us! We dressed up in our cozy clothes, grabbed the umbrellas, and played in the rain. It was so fun. We even went back to the coffee shop where it all started (see “how it all began” blog post) and reminisced.

We are so excited to have Austin and Dara shoot our wedding! They are extremely talented and an encouraging couple to know. We loved talking to them about marriage, relationships, and Jesus during the shoot. It’s awesome to see how God is using them to show his love through what they do for a living.

Here are some of the pictures from the shoot…

hmm this one looks familiar.

home sweet home!

Well that title may be a little deceiving…but what we mean by it is….we have a place to live! Yay! Last week was Cat’s Easter Break so we had a lot of time together. We got A LOT done in preparation for the nearing wedding day and soon-to-come marriage. Here are some pictures of our future little home. It’s very close to downtown Santa Barbara, which is fantastic. A perfect location between work, school, & our families. There are also some friends of ours that are living in the same apartment complex. It will be a fun newly-wed community! Here are some pictures of our little place. It’s gonna be so fun when we get to move in.

Finding this place was totally God’s provision. Up until we got it, we had no idea where we were going to live. Our budget is very tight, so our price range was limited so. We were worried about living somewhere affordable and close to school, work, & family. We’re also doing a lot of traveling after the wedding day (honeymoon, Seattle, High School summer camp) so we figured we’d just be nomads until after then. We were worried, but we surrendered it & trusted God that we would find a place. Literally, without searching it out too much…this place just fell into our laps!

We can’t wait to be married & living together in it!

bridal shower(s).

[by cat]

First of all, I just have to say that Trevor and I are incredibly blessed to have some of the greatest friends. I am blown away by all they do for us and how they rejoice with us during this sweet time in our life of preparing to become husband and wife. With that said, here is a little summary of the craziness that has been going these past couple of weeks in regards to my fantastic bridal showers.

(And when I say fantastic, it has absolutely nothing to do with anything I’ve done, but my beautiful and loving bridesmaids).

Sooo…about two weeks ago, we had a mini-bachelorette party in Azusa where a small group of us got dressed up and went to downtown Pasadena for yummy appetizers and desert. It was so sweet. We went to Cafe Santorini and sat outside on the patio in the amazing 75 degree weather that evening. There were A LOT of laughs and definitely many fun things talked about. Afterwards, we ventured back to the apartment and opened presents. It was a great night : )

ohh…redford, you would. classy.

The weekend following that, was the more “official” bridal shower in my hometown, Santa Barbara. Leading up to this shower, the bridesmaids were in cahoots about the whole planning ordeal via email and phone calls. It was funny to have my roommates have all this sneaky and secret stuff going on in our apartment. They would have little rendezvous where they’d work on decorations and more. I have to admit, I was starting to get a bit jealous that I wasn’t a part of the planning and all the goodness. BUT I had to remind myself that they were doing this for, who? Me! What?! I realized I am more than blessed to have girlfriends who would go to all the trouble to throw me a fun celebration.

Well then the Saturday of the shower rolled around and I finally got to see all the secrets unveiled! I was trapped in my room (playing Words With Friends with Trev the whole time of course) while I heard them (as my mother puts it) playing “The Apprentice” as they worked together to set up for the party.

It was so much fun! We played a few fun games. The classic toilet-paper-bride game, where my little niece Angelina was the winner (please see picture below…so cute) and also a fun quiz where guests were asked questions about Trevor and I. The goal was to guess what I would answer for questions such as, “where was Trevor and Cat’s first kiss?”, “what physical feature of Trevor is Cat’s favorite?”, “what is Cat’s biggest pet peeve about Trevor?”, “what cartoon character does Cat remind Trevor of?”. etc. The girls even played a video of Trevor answering the questions. Fortunately, he got most of them right! Yay fiance!

After playing the games and opening presents, the married women were given the opportunity to give me marriage advice. I have to say, that was probably the best gift I could ever receive. I was encouraged and inspired by these women. It was so neat to have them come beside me and give me little nuggets of guidance to prepare me for my marriage with Trevor.

i love them : )

These last couple of weeks have been such a blast. They are also making the wedding day become more and more REAL! Which makes me feel a flood of different emotions: excitement, nervousness, joy, anxiety, and impatience. I can’t wait!

Thank you, again, to my bridesmaids for everything (and a HUGE thank you to my beautiful mother who also helped a WHOLE lot. She is a blessing in so many ways).

oh, texting.

It’s time for a good laugh. Here are some random text messages that have been sent between us. They are sincere, weird, unexplainable, cute, & sorta taken out of context. There what happen when you’re living apart & it may be your only form of communication at times. Even though a text or even a phone call can’t even come close to being with each other in person, they are still great to reflect back on. Enjoy!
